Stu's Diary - August 2000

It's been 4 months since the last diary update, and about that long since the last code update.

On the GNQS front, reports of problems with GNQS seem to have practically stopped.  I don't know if this means that GNQS-3.50.9 is very close to being zero defect software (only 15 years or so after initial release ;-) or whether it's no longer an app that anyone is particularly interested in trying out.

I need to make a GNQS-3.50.10 release, to sort out the HP-UX installation problems.  Once that's done, the GNQS_Stable source tree should be just that - stable.

I'm feeling a bit guilty about the GNQS_Devel source tree.  It's a bloody mess.  And that is my fault.  I don't know how long it will take me to straighten out.  I'll be making a start on it soon.

It's fair to say that I've not done any work at all on GNQS for a few months now.  I joined Orange at the start of April.  It's the first job I've ever had that's entirely management - no programming at all.  It's proving to be a most interesting challenge, but one that has swallowed most of my time to date.

The rest of my time has gone on house hunting.  Kristi and I started looking what - five months ago now, if not longer - and we still don't know if (never mind when) we'll be finally getting our very own house.  We're pretty close to a purchase, but we're not there yet.
